Physical Therapists

PhysioArts fully appreciates that the quality of our patients’ lives depends on our commitment to detail and our clinical expertise. All of our physical therapists are NY State licensed and are extremely dedicated to clinical excellence through continuing education. Many of us hold advanced degrees and specialty certifications in orthopaedic and manual physical therapy, and all of us have a personal background in dance.


Jenni

Jennifer Green, PT, MS, CFMT

Jennifer founded PhysioArts in 2001. She received her undergraduate PT degree from the University of Vermont in 1992, and achieved an Advanced Masters in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from Touro College in 1999 with honors.  In 2002, Jennifer joined the elite group of Certified Functional Manual Therapists™ through The Institute of Physical Art by passing the certification with distinction.

Having been a professional dancer, Jennifer understands the rigor of a performance career.  Prior to founding PhysioArts, she served as a company therapist for more than 20 Broadway shows.  With PhysioArts, Jennifer continues to provide to this community, adding over 75 productions including Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center Theatre, Broadway and pop tours, Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures.

Jennifer has extensive training in manual physical therapy and has been teaching since 1999 with Integrative Manual Therapy Solutions a nationally renowned continuing education resource for practicing physical therapists.  She has presented at numerous dance medicine conventions.  Jennifer holds a certification in Vinyasa-style yoga from Om Yoga, and has pursued continuing medical education in integrative medicine with focus on visceral manipulation, nutrition and botanicals. 

When Jenni is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Darren and her daughters Grace and Sadie. 


Laura

Laura Becica, DPT

Laura joined PhysioArts in 2010, and graduated from Ithaca College in 2007 with a Masters in Science and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  In 2008 she joined the Analysis of Dance and Movement (ADAM) Center where she worked onsite for The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet at home in New York City and on tour domestically and abroad.  During her time with the ADAM Center, Laura participated in dance-related research projects, presentations and publications. Her classical dance training prepared her for a career in dance medicine.   Laura is constantly pursuing continuing education courses to expand her skills and knowledge, and we are thrilled to have her on the PhysioArts team.


Mara

Mara Berman, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Mara joined us in 2012 from Southern California where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Southern California and her Bachelor’s Degree in Biopsychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  She has experience working with orthopaedic injuries, pre and post-operative conditions, collegiate athletes, and dancers with both neurologic and orthopaedic diagnoses. She has taken many continuing education courses, including a year-long orthopaedic manual therapy advanced training program, and she is an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Mara has danced throughout her life and was formally trained in ballet, jazz, and ballroom dance.  She was recently performing with an Afro-Brazilian dance company in Santa Barbara, CA and currently studies capoeira and Afro-Brazilian dance.


Sarah

Sarah Bigham, MSPT, CFMT

Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ithaca College in 2004 with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. A former dancer, her love for the performing arts carried over into this profession. She began her career as the primary physical therapy for Disney's The Lion King both for the first national tour and on Broadway. She has been a part of the talented and passionate team of therapists at PhysioArts since 2009. Sarah serves as the Center Coordinator for Clinical Education for PhysioArts, setting up internships for physical therapy students interested in pursuing dance medicine. In 2011, Sarah achieved a long time goal of becoming a Certified Functional Manual Therapist™, passing certification with distinction. She is now part of the faculty for The Institute of Physical Art, sharing her enthusiasm of the material with fellow therapists. Sarah strives to continue developing her manual therapy skills and further her involvement in the dance medicine community.


Ryanne

Ryanne Glasper, DPT

Ryanne completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance, graduating magna cum laude from Long Island University in 2002 and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Long Island University in 2008.  Her dance training began at an early age and lead her from performing, to choreographing, and finally to teaching.  Her experience in dance medicine began in 2005 at the Analysis of Dance and Movement (ADAM) Center, where she had the privilege of assisting therapists at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. Ryanne further expanded her experience in dance medicine skills as an intern with Westside Dance Physical Therapy, an opportunity which afforded her the pleasure of working with the School of American Ballet and the New York City Ballet. She joined the therapists of PhysioArts in 2008, and she is elated to continue her passion for dance as a dance medicine practitioner.


Carolyn

Carolyn Grantz, DPT, CPI

Carolyn joined our family in 2007.  She brings experience treating a variety of patient populations from immediate post-surgical to high-level athletes and performers.  Carolyn received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Biology from Rutgers University in 1997, a Masters of Physical Therapy in 2001 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2005 from Temple University.  She has an extensive history of dance training and earned a Pilates Teacher Certification from Body Arts and Science International in 2002.  Carolyn has taken numerous continuing education courses in manual therapy and continues to do so adding depth and variety to her treatment approach. 


Carol

Carol Holyoke, MSPT, CMA, CFMT

Carol has been working in Dance Medicine since 1999 when she graduated from Columbia University with a Masters in Physical Therapy.  She was a physical therapist at Westside Dance P.T. where she was a staff PT for the New York City Ballet and the School of American Ballet. Carol joined PhysioArts in 2004. In addition, she is currently on staff as a physical therapist at the Juilliard School.

Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Carol was a dancer and choreographer in New York and Seattle where she also practiced as a massage therapist and movement educator.  She is certified as a Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Art History and Dance. In 2012 she became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist™, passing the rigorous testing process with honors. Carol is the proud mother of Lila and Maggie, two young budding musicians.
